Eiffage and NGE win joint contract to build lot 2 of Toulouse's 3rd metro line

The consortium, led by Eiffage through its subsidiary Eiffage Génie Civil, will be responsible for the design and construction of an 8.416 km tunnel, 6 stations, 5 ancillary structures at intersections and a link to the maintenance site.
5 ancillary structures at intersections and a connecting structure to the maintenance site. The contract also includes the construction of 9 shafts connecting the shafts to the tunnel.

The project incorporates a number of technical advances, including the use of two new-generation tunnel boring machines (TBMs) and the use of steel-saving fiber-reinforced concrete segments for 95% of the project, manufactured by the consortium itself at a new plant in the Toulouse region. Carasol®, the soil characterization technique developed by Eiffage, will be used. It enables excavated materials to be analyzed in 2 hours, compared with 3 to 5 days for traditional methods, thus limiting temporary storage and truck rotations.

In order to limit the impact of the worksite on local residents, the consortium will be implementing a number of measures to reduce the nuisance caused by the work, third-party activities and traffic. On the environmental front, the consortium is aiming for almost 90% recovery of excavated material. Commitments have also been made to reduce the site's carbon footprint through the use of predominantly renewable energy, clean vehicles and low-consumption, eco-designed site installations.
