In the heart of the city of Metz, Ævia is completing the structural reinforcement work on the AU26 bridge which crosses the Moselle
Our Ævia teams are finalising the structural reinforcement work on the AU26 bridge which allows the A31 to cross the Moselle at the level of the Saulcy island. The deck of this structure had longitudinal cracks in the intrados of its three spans.
After recalculation of the deck, the cause of this cracking is attributed to a lack of transverse reinforcement to take up the effects of transverse bending.
The reinforcement of this bridge was made possible by the application of 150 x 1.2 mm² carbon fibre laminates across the width of the intrados of both decks of the structure. In total, our teams installed 6 000 m of strips and injected nearly 900 m of epoxy resin into the cracks.
This maintenance work will extend the life of the structure.
Congratulations to the teams for their work !
