The longest tunnel cycle path in France, inaugurated in Montpellier
As part of the requalification of the Comédie tunnel, our Eiffage Génie Civil teams supported the Montpellier metropolitan area in creating a new urban axis connecting the Comédie sector to Antigone in two minutes.
Started in July 2024, the construction of this 384-meter-long gallery was articulated in three phases, with the creation of:
- two reinforced concrete fire-rated separating walls measuring 110 m and 270 m respectively;
- vehicle and bicycle access between the tunnel and levels -2 and -3 of the Comédie parking lot.
The structure, subject to "Mont-Blanc" regulations, has been entirely transformed into a space dedicated to soft mobilities, contributing to the creation of new, previously non-existent regulations.
Around a hundred cyclists used the "Galerie de la Comédie" for the first time, as an inauguration, on Thursday, November 27.
Congratulations to our teams for the successful completion of this major project!
