Demcy has deconstructed the tallest residential tower in the Occitanie region

Standing at 76 meters, the 22-story 'Assas' tower required a three-year demolition process, which began with a top-down approach involving progressive dismantling from the summit of the building.

This deconstruction was conducted alongside the demolition of the neighboring "Mercure" building.

Both demolition projects are part of the urban renewal plan for the La Mosson district in Montpellier.

The project in numbers:

  • 34,000 m² of interior stripping
  • 33,000 tons of processed rubble
  • 5,000 hours of social integration work
  • 730 m of asbestos-cement pipes
  • 660 tons of metals and scrap iron
  • 360 tons of non-hazardous waste
  • 70 tons of treated wood

98% of the materials from the demolitions were recycled.

This technical and logistical challenge was successfully carried out in partnership with ACM HABITAT (Project Owner) and Antea Group - France (Project Manager).

Congratulations to the Demcy teams for this collective success!
