Ævia constructs the new François Mitterrand bridge footbridge in Bordeaux
In the Bordeaux metropolitan area, Ævia is building the new pedestrian and cycle footbridge on the François Mitterrand bridge.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the future pedestrian and cycle path over the Garonne River, a project led by Ævia.
Benoit Lalaude: "This is a landmark project for Ævia, involving advanced techniques like prestressing and fiber-reinforced concrete. It's a testament to our collective expertise."
Xavier Mony: "This footbridge is one of our most significant design-build achievements. It's a specialized project that showcases our ingenuity and inventiveness."
Stanislas Monnot: "We won this contract by setting ourselves apart, particularly with the implementation of our unique monorail system."
To maintain traffic flow on the Bordeaux ring road, we designed a one-of-a-kind monorail gantry system. This allows our operators to work in complete safety along the entire 650-meter length of the structure.
This 3-meter-wide cantilevered footbridge will soon feature two viewing platforms offering views of the Île d'Arçins.
The existing structure has been reinforced with carbon fabric and additional prestressing to ensure its durability for decades to come.
As part of our "Zero Discharge" commitment, our teams' vigilance is crucial in preserving this Natura 2000 listed site.
Congratulations to our teams for their technical skill and dedication to delivering a sustainable and innovative piece of infrastructure.
We extend our thanks to DREAL (Regional Directorate for Environment, Planning and Housing) for their trust and confidence.
