Eiffage Civil Engineering has excavated the first 3 kilometers of the tunnel for Lot 2 of VL8.

The first 3 kilometers of tunnel for Lot 2 have been excavated as part of the construction of the future VL8 collector! The tunnel boring machine, named Béatrice, continues its journey, which began on July 6, 2023, at Vigneux-sur-Seine (91), heading towards Orly, more than 7 meters below the Seine riverbed.

Eiffage Civil Engineering has excavated the first 3 kilometers of the tunnel for Lot 2 of VL8.

2,500 rings have been installed, comprising 15,000 voussoirs!

The integration of river transport for the removal of 77,000 tons of spoil required the use of 96 barges to the transit platform at Bonneuil-sur-Marne (94), and removed the equivalent of 2,300 trucks from the roads. This solution allows for the transportation of larger volumes while reducing nuisances for local residents and CO₂ emissions.

Congratulations to our teams, mobilized 24/7 on this significant project!

The VL8 collector will enhance the SIAAP's sanitation network by preventing the discharge of untreated water into the natural environment and will secure the bacteriological quality of the Seine for swimming during the Paris Games.
